Thought patterns and anxiety

I would like to know if changing your thought patterns will stop the physical symptoms of anxiety.

Re: Thought patterns and anxiety

Thank you for your question.

Most of us feel some level of anxiety even in our day to day lives. However, when these feelings become excessive or persistent, they can have a severe and negative impact on your physical and mental well being. Anxiety can be very difficult to control. If anxiety goes untreated, you may be at risk of developing an anxiety disorder.

Anxiety often stems from negative thinking patterns and harsh self talk which can lead to feelings of low self esteem and then further manifests in physical symptoms. Challenging your thought patterns has proven to be very effective in reducing anxiety and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) works with addressing the underlying issues and negative thinking patterns that trigger the cycle of anxiety.

Counseling provides a safe and confidential space to explore the reasons behind your anxiety and I would recommend seeking further referrals from your GP or https://www.bacp.co.uk
