Knee replacement
Hello.i need a full knee replacement ,but I have mild psoriasis on my knee where the incision would be.would he be able to cut through where the psoriasis is safely.

Thank you for your question.
Knees are a common site for psoriasis. Unlike other skin conditions such as eczema it has been seen in psoriasis that the plaques themselves are not teeming with bacteria. The risk of infection is usually quite low although the healing may be slower and of course you may end up with Koebner phenomonen which results in psoriasis being present along the length of the scar.
It is of course best to try and reduce and treat the plaque as much as possible before the treatment. The final decision for the surgery will lay with the operating consultant.
Have a discussion with your GP or dermatologist to optimize any topical treatment to reduce any inflammation within the plaque.
