Potential cause of eczema?

I know that the causes of eczema are not fully understood, but is there a possibility that it could be caused by poor gut health? I have had periods of unbearable itchiness with my eczema and sometimes it seemed that drinking mint tea would calm the itching and I know this is good for digestion. If I concentrate on developing good guy flora, can this help stop eczema from returning?

I often think that too! There’s a really good book called ‘Gut’ by Giulia Enders, well worth reading. It makes a lot of sense!

Re: Potential cause of eczema?

Hi, Its such a good question! I think we are just at the cusp of understanding more about how gut health and skin health are linked. There is evidence that probiotics can help reduce the risk of eczema, but once eczema has developed, the jury is a little out. It may be that a combination of probiotics and probiotics can help. I think looking at yourself holistically (whilst also making sure you are caring for your skin) is a really good way of managing eczema.
