Diagnosed with a cervical polyp

At a recent smear test I was diagnosed with a cervical polyp and referred to the local gynaecological hospital. Problem is that my appointment is not until the end of April (I am away beg of April so could have got an earlier appointment) Even though I have checked on line and it doesn’t sound like too much to worry about I can’t help thinking the worst possible outcome which I suppose is human nature. Can’t find percentage data on how many turn out to be anything serious and wonder if you can give me any further info please

Thank you

Re: Diagnosed with a cervical polyp

Hi

Nothing to worry about my last polyp apart from the one sitting in there atm, my baby kicked out when he was born! Didn't even know it had gone. They are very common.

Re: Diagnosed with a cervical polyp

Polyps are common and very unlikely to be serious. They are often noticed at the time of having a smear taken. If small, we encourage them to be removed in primary care at the time that they are noticed. Please don't worry!
