Progesterone is not absorbed through the skin in any significant quantity, so there are no medically-approved creams or gels containing natural human progesterone. Such creams that do exist and are marketed have no obvious pharmacological action, and it's not clear to me or other accredited menopause specialists quite why the alternative therapy industry is so convinced of their usefulness or efficacy.

In complete contrast, natural human estrogen gel - [17-beta estradiol, known as "Sandrena" or "Estraderm"] - is an excellent medical method of delivering estrogen transdermally (as an alternative to a patch). The transdermal route using gel or patch delivers a steady slow release giving a stable level of estrogen - in contrast to the fluctuating level of an oral dose - and has no excess risk of clots, as well as being particularly useful for treating severe cyclical mood change in premenstrual syndrome. For this reason, estrogen gels or patches are the first line method of delivering the estrogen component of HRT as recommended by most menopause specialists https://www.menopausedoctor.co.uk/menop ... tches-gels
