Large vagina

I’ve had two children, normally had to be cut on no 1 and slight tear on no 2 , bladder and bowel prolapse, both repaired, full hysterectomy, I now feel that my vagina is very large and empty and sex is not often, what can I do to help, I’m not overweight, can you have surgery ? Exercise? Thanks Liane

Re: Large vagina

Dear Lianne,
Vaginal laxity is common after children especially when there has been a tear or episiotomy and if you’ve had large babies. This can lead to loss of sensation during Intercourse and loss of sexual satisfaction. A procedure which could help and which I do perform on a number of women for similar reasons is vaginal laser treatment. A probe is inserted into the vagina and the laser causes contraction of the mucosal cells and stimulates new collagen which then helps to plump the vaginal canal and tighten it. A course of at least 3 treatments is recommended.
