Insomnia after hysterectomy
My total abdominal hysterectomy 2 years ago and not able to sleep. My gp or my gynaecologist never recognise the symptoms of seriously painful cramp spasms in arms and legs until I could not move at all. I thought I had a stroke. After months they gave me oestrogen patches and antidepressant clomipramine. Came of antidepressant after many months to find I could not sleep and had anxiety 24/7. I was prescribed citalopram for 6 weeks. That did nothing for sleep. So I was put on mirtazapine 30mg. I have now developed kidney and liver issues and weight gain by 2 stone. I feel my sleep is not being look at at all and I wonder whether I need progesterone as it’s a sleep hormone and any other hormones. Help my go s are not qualified enough and have no idea. The nhs has let 50plus women down. Where can I get help immediately.

Re: Insomnia after hysterectomy
Insomnia is a symptom of the menopause but the treatment is estrogen replacement and not progesterone, although the drug tibolone sometimes works.
