I am 59 years old. I have several moles on my abdomen and chest and 2 newer ones, one looks like a mole but is red and another, about 2 inches away which is red but still flat. I have good skin and always use sun cream and body lotions.
Thanks, Liz

Dear Liz

Than you for your question.

Moles and lesions will often continue to develop through out life. The lesions you describe sound like haemangiomas which are entirely harmless and are composed of blood vessels which is why they look red. They can be flat or raised.

Red lesions however can also be sign of sun damage - these often present as slightly scaly or rough lesions with a red base.

I would advise that you get these looked at by your GP who should be able to confirm the diagnosis. However any new lesions, or existing mole, spot etc that is changing in size, colour or shape should be examined by your GP or a dermatologist.
