I would like some advice on how to handle an intertstital cystis flare up. my consultant doesn't know much about my condition or how to help me.
I have instillation every 5 weeks. I am on amitriptylin and solifenacin.
I also have received botox injections in my bladder every 2 years for 8 years now.
I actually diagnosed myself and the consultant confirmed it. I get flare up and I struggle with pain and constant need to pee. I can have flare ups lasting a week and I feel dreadful for it
Thank you.

Interstitial cystitis is a difficult condition to manage and sounds like you have already had a number of treatments to help. There are various other modalities but perhaps a good place to start is the American Urology Association (AUA) guidelines which outline various steps (first line, second line, etc.) in the management of IC. I personally find them quite useful.

There’s a patient geared summary on this page at the IC Network website - https://www.ic-network.com/aua-guidelin ... -cystitis/

I know it’s an American site but the majority of the treatments are also available in the UK. I would suggest you discuss any options you are interested in with your Urologist.

Bladder Health UK also has various resources available at this website: http://bladderhealthuk.org/bladder-cond ... r-syndrome
I think you might find that useful too.

It's worth bearing in mind that flare-ups can sometimes occur due to a UTI occurring in addition to the underlying Interstitial Cystitis and sometimes treating that can give some benefit - might be worth a try?
