IBS Question

I find Aloe Vera really helpful where IBS is concerned. I buy the concentrated version and add water to this. Do you think Aloe Vera should be recommended more, as an alleviation, if not as a cure, please? My bouts have decreased considerably.

Re: IBS Question

Hi Mary

I am pleased that you have had some resolution for your symptoms with Aloe Vera but I'm afraid that it should not be advised on a regular basis, as a treatment for everyone with IBS. Aloe Vera can result in diarrhoea and blood electrolyte disturbances, which are not helpful for some people with IBS. Plus, whilst symptoms can resolve with treatment, and some find symptoms reduce or stop over time there is currently no known cure for IBS, I'm afraid. The National Institute of Health and Care Excellence organisation advise against using Aloe Vera for this reason.

Kind regards
