When physical rehabilitation, taking medicine, and resting do not work to improve your neck pain, consult a spine specialist.

Neck and shoulderpain can be classified in many different ways. Some people experience only neck pain or only shoulder pain, while others experience pain in both areas.
If you or someone you care for suffers with back pain, including musculo-skeletal back pain, nerve root syndrome (herniated or slipped discs, spinal stenosis) or other skeletal causes of back pain including osteomyelitis, sacroiliitis, and osteoporosis vertebral fractures, this is the forum to share your experiences and support each other.

You can fix this. Don't distress too much.

Though you need to see a Physicist preferably or at least a highly referred physical therapist or kinesiologist. They can determine just what is going on, and then devise treatment.

Your family physician may be able to help refer you to the proper specialist and check you over with palpation and XRAY himself. Alot of back problems, spine problems, muscle issues, tendon/ligaments etc can be greatly helped. Alot of people are unnecessarily living in chronic pain because of a few doctors that just didn't have a clue. Finding the right person who understands these things is crucial. Pain is taxing on the mind and body.

As for the dimples in the back -- if they are on each side of your spine at the bottom they are supposed to be there and are a result of the sacro-illiac joint and illiac crest anatomy of the back.

The doctors turn me away all the time they don't seem to link the two. Gets me very down cos its a lingering pain that is always there no matter what pain killers I take.

Exact situation! I was surprised to know how many women suffer from spine aching and associated pains in face muscles. I also think these are due to bad thyroid gland causing constant anxiety and pain. It's sort of a vicious circle.
Kaiden, I think you'd better have your daughter fully examined: X-rayed, magnetic-resonance imaging and what ever. My aunt has unbearable pains due to instability of vertebrae. She was recommended special excersises for her neck and mid back, reflex therapy (which for some raeson made it worse) and balneo therapy. It's realy helped. Consult the doctor and make a research of your own.

The most common cause of shoulder pain and neck pain is injury to the soft tissues, including the muscles, tendons, and ligaments within these structures. This can occur from whiplash or other injury to these areas.
You should first consult a orthopaedic doctor rather then telling her to do any exercise which might increase the pain. There might be possibility that there might be tear or fracture around shoulder or Back.
