Sacroiliac pain
Hi,
I was a keen triathlete but have had sacroiliac pain on right side of back for approx 4 years now. X-Rays show some hip dysplasia on the right side, but hip specialist doesn't consider it to be contributing factor to back pain. Lumbar and sacroiliac MRI shows no significant abnormalities.
Strength and core work has helped a little, but I can't run, and am limited in the amount of cycling I can do. Standing in the kitchen to make dinner aggregates it the most.
Does anyone have any suggestions or advice on where to go from here?
Thanks
Gill

Re: Sacroiliac pain
Initial treatment recommendations will typically include use of ice or cold packs, applied in 15 to 20 minute intervals as needed to reduce inflammation in the area, along with rest to reduce irritation. Depending on the duration of sharp, intense pain, ice can be continued anywhere between 2 days to 2 weeks. Once the inflammation is less, gradual return to normal activities may be advisable. Application of heat (such as a heat wrap or hot bath) may help the healing process, but not during the acute, high intense pain time frame.
