TOT and TVT
Please can you update on the latest research regarding TOT and TVT? I am aware this procedure is on hold at the moment at my local hospital. Colposuspension is an option but does not seem to have a favourable review, either. I would welcome comments, please.
Thanks, Penny

Re: TOT and TVT
You are correct this is currently on hold pending the outcome of an independent review chaired by Baroness Cumberlege. This is likely to be the case at least until the end of the year. The latest publication is linked below (BMJ article from last week)

Re: TOT and TVT
The evidence from the latest NICE Guidelines and the European international guidelines is that these represent the standard of care if the surgery is carried out by a surgeon who is used to treating patients with this problem, appropriately investigating them and carrying out the surgery, and after full informed consent of the patient about the benefits and risks of the procedure. At present these procedures have been suspended for use in the UK whilst patient concerns are addressed.
