passing urine is slow but the urgency to go is speedy

I'm 72 and have had 2 children in my 20s.
I had a prolapse 10 years ago and a successful op about 8 years ago.
For the last 3 years passing urine is slow but the urgency to go is speedy. Thus arrival at the loo without an accident is a problem. Some times once started peeing by accident I've no ability to stop. This is very embarrassing if I'm doing a health walk especially in cold weather I know this is very common for older ladies.
I've had physio instructions for pelvic floor exercises and drink decaffeinated coffee and tea. I need to visit the loo many times at night.

I was prescribed a med from my doctor but that left me feeling unwell with an extremely dry mouth.

I'd love to know if there's any better treatment that can aid this issue apart from wearing adult nappy pads.

Thanks, Ann

Hi Ann
Thanks for all the info it’s really helpful. My instinct is to think you may be retaining urine. Have you ever had a scan of your bladder? Do you ever visit the loo very soon after you’ve finished? Do you feel ‘empty’ when you go? Have you had any urine infections?
Sorry for the questions but they will help understand and rule out some possibilities.

If you haven’t already get your GP to send you for a ‘post Void residual’ scan of your bladder. Your community nurse specialist (if you have one) may be able to do this locally for you

Do update me. All the very best.

This needs appropriate assessment by a urologist or urogynaecologist.
