I was diagnosed with Vitiligo 2yrs ago on my face and neck. At the moment I am using Protopic 0.1% every day and Elocon cream once a week.
The condition cleared up on my face but now its appearing in different places on my face.
Vitiligo on my neck seems to be getting bigger. I am still using both creams.
I couldnt go into the light cubicle due to being in a wheelchair.
Any help would be lovely.
Kind regards
Tracey

Hi Tracey

Thank you for your question. Vitiligo can be unpredictable and whilst some areas start to re-pigment, other sites can start to de-pigment and grow bigger in size. Repeated trauma such as rubbing or scratching the skin may trigger vitiligo or exacerbate it so reducing friction may help prevent it from worsening. It is important to wear sunscreen or appropriate clothing, paying particular attention to vitiligo sites as the risk of sunburn is high and this can cause further trauma to the skin. For new lesions I usually recommend applying the steroid cream once daily for 6 weeks followed by the protopic, however it is important that this is done with close medical supervision. If you have any concerns I would recommend you see your GP or Dermatologist who will be able to examine you and advise you further.

Best wishes
