cervical screening

Do you think that Cervical Screening process should be taught on an information basis within schools and colleges along with female development?
How much detail do you think is required without the scare factor, as most young adults have an active imagination and the word Cancer can scare and create the stories of the unrealistic?

Thanks

Re: cervical screening

Women should have access to as many information as they are likely to handle. Evidence based information delivered in a lay way empowers women to make their own choices. Quite often our patients are worried about cancer not necessarily because of plethora of information but lack of it. Interestingly once someone explains to them the processes involved with a specific condition then they are less worried. To comeback to smear test, smear test is one of the best ways to protect from cancer of the neck of the womb as we can detect early changes in the cells that can be monitored or treated so they don't progress to cancer.
