Perimenopausal Acne

Postby sleepneeded81 on Mon Jul 08, 2019 1:34 pm

Hello, I’m wondering whether you can recommend any treatment for perimenopausal acne? I’ve had great skin for years and now have whiteheads and painful deep cyst like eruptions which I’ve never had before. Using benzoyl peroxide topically and unsure what to try next.

Thank you for your question.

I would suggest to seet your dermatologist or GP to consider an antibiotic, Epiduo or DUAC gel or Roacutane treatment (the latter from you dermatologist).

I hope this is helpful.

Perimenopausal acne can be hormonally driven. It would be important to take a detailed medical history including medication history.
I would suggest seeing a dermatologist who can undertake some endocrinological investigations and recommend treatments such as oral antibiotics, isotretinoin or spironolactone
