Vacuum Pump for ED

Vacuum Pump for ED
I suffer from ED following a radical robotic prostatectomy in 2016 and use a vacuum pump to obtain an erection. However, with this device I have never been able to hold an erection hard enough to gain penetration so our sex life came to an abrupt end. As my wife and I are both in our late sixties this has not really been an issue for us but my specialist nurse, and the booklet of instructions which came with the vacuum pump, recommend using the pump several times a week to maintain penile health. What happens to my penis if I should stop doing this? I have visions of it shrivelling up like the umbilical cord on a baby and eventually falling off!

Re: Vacuum Pump for ED
Many thanks for your question. There is some evidence which suggests penile shortening after prostatectomy, and using the VED is often an option not only to maintain an erection but also maintain penile length.
If the device is now allowing you to have intercourse, then I would encourage you consider other options of which there are plenty. These range from oral medication, to injections, topical treatments, and finally insertion of penile prosthesis (malleable vs inflatable).
I hope this helps.
