Urticaria

I’m on 720mg Fexofenadine, 20mg Xyzal, 300mg Ranitidine and 10mg Montelukast for Urticaria and allergies but still having constant break through rashes, hives and blisters. I’ve tried Xolair, light treatment and Ciclosporin to no avail. I’m on a restricted diet. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Re: Urticaria

I'm sorry to hear that your urticaria has not been controlled with a variety of treatments, some of which are used as last resort measures!

I'm assuming you have Spontaneous chrronic urtcaria.

Unfortunately we'd be clutching at straws. There is some very low grade evidence for the following drugs in specific types of urticaria:

Mycophenolate Mofetil
Dapsone
Hydroxychloroquine
Methotrexate

However you would need to discuss with your dermatologist. Hopefully the condition will spontaneously resolve.

Re: Urticaria

I completely agree wih Dr Sheraz,

there is some evidence that a common medication for blood pressure - nifedipine (used off licence) may also help some patients.

I hope this is helpful.
