7 year old has low ferritin levels that effect his sleep

My son was diagnosed with having low ferritin levels (red blood cells) two years ago. He has to take daily medication to help him offset the side effects of this. But when it comes to his check ups he has to be medication free for two weeks so the blood tests are untainted, so all the issues come flooding back including sleep problems. He hardly sleeps, when he does he has knighmeres, sleepwalks and talks and is still tired in the morning. It's so stressful for him and us

Re: 7 year old has low ferritin levels that effect his sleep

Hi
That sounds incredibly stressful for you all. I'm not a medical expert so cannot comment on that element, what I would suggest is that these more specialist support. There are sleep clinics within the NHS who have specialist medical practitioners who are expert. It may be helpful to speak to his Consultant and to find out where your nearest clinic is so you can be referred and get the support that you need to manage these periods.

Hope that helps
