Kidney Stones

Could you please outline the best ways to avoid kidney stones, and also how to deal with an acute kidney stone attack please? (My husband has had 2 episodes of severe kidney stones and I find very distressing to see him in so much pain, I don’t know what to do!)
Thank you, Samantha

Re: Kidney Stones

He should drink 3 litres of water a day
ideally with some lemon juice
avoid high protein meals especially red meat.
he needs a 24 hour urine collection test and a calcium and rate blood test to see why he is forming them
Ideally a check scan to look for other remaining stones would be useful

If he passes another stone then save it and it can be sent for analysis.
