scales caused by eczema

What can you do to get rid of the scales caused by eczema? Will my skin ever recover from discolouration?

Dear Misbah,

Thank you for your question. Greasy moisturisers like Epaderm or Cetraben ointments can help with eczema scaly skin. Sometimes in addition one may need steroid ointments of an appropriate strength which your GP or dermatologist can prescribe. Sometimes this is not enough and one may need powerful oral medicines like methotrexate, which your dermatologist can prescribe. Sometimes this may be not enough and one may need injection called a biologic.

Once your eczema is controlled by a treatment the skin discolouration usually slowly improves.
