Eczema upper eyelids and around eyes

Ive suffered eczema all my life and to a certain extent I just have to get on with it. Ive tried most medications/treatment options. However I am looking for suggestions for creams or anything ai can use around the eyes. My upper eyelids are cracked and sore and around my eyes generally. Obviously this is a very sensitive area and I have been told not to use steroid on my face. I can deal with the eczema on my body in general but when its on your face and neck its not only irritating but embarrassing as well. Any suggestions?

Re: Eczema upper eyelids and around eyes

Thank you very much for your question. I am very sorry to hear about your skin problem.
Yes tacrolimus ointment (Protopic) or pimecrolimus cream (Elidel) are not steroid based and can be used around yes. They can be prescribed by your GP or dermatologist. If it is of interest you can read more about these treatments on my website yourprivatedermatologist.co.uk.

I hope this is helpful.

Re: Eczema upper eyelids and around eyes

Thank you for your question.

I would agree with the treatment options that Dr Alexandroff has mentioned. I would also add that patients with eczema are more prone to allergies and with facial eczema or peri-orbital eczema it is always worth considering having some allergy tests performed.

The type of allergy test you need is called a Patch test. You can discuss this with your Dermatologist.

I hope this helps.
