Insomnia
I have suffered from insomnia for several years now and can go almost 2 weeks without sleep which, on top of my chronic depression, leaves me worn out and increasingly unable to function as an individual and certainly unable to integrate with society in general. Eventually my body shuts down for 24 - 36 hours and then I go through the same cycle all over again.
I have tried everything I know or have read from so called experts incuding cutting out caffeine from my diet for 4 months, changing the time I go to bed, reading a paperback book - you name it, I've tried it but nothing seems to make a difference.
Any suggestions as to how I can change this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, John

Re: Insomnia
Hi John
I am really to hear about your struggles with sleep.
Mental health issues and sleep deprivation go hand in hand and should be treated alongside each other.
From what you are saying you really need to speak to a specialist - have you seen your GP about your sleep issues? I presume you are under the GP for your depression. Some anti-depressants can cause insomnia.
You may find Cognitive Behavioural Therapy helpful so it would be worth mentioning this to your GP.
