Deep Sleep - I don' get enough

Hi, we are meant to get a minimum of 4, 90mins rounds of deep sleep a night so that the brain can do it's "claning" but I'm lucky if I get 1 deep sleep of 90 mins usually it less than an hour and a total per night of maybe 4 - 5 hours on a good night but that is total ie made up of shorter increments.
They have linked lack of deep sleep to dimentia I'm getting concerned but how can I improve it?

Re: Deep Sleep - I don' get enough

Deep sleep in a healthy adult makes up approx 25% of the night but is usually confined to the first third of the night, later sleep cycles contain little if any deep sleep. so as long as you are getting more than 3-4 hours of sleep you are probably getting al the deep sleep you need. Unfortunately, there is no way of increasing the percentage of deep sleep within a night other than ensuring you get the seep you need
