My husband and sister in law both suffer from this skin condition is there any treatment available or someone in the north west area that could help?
Thank you, Julia

Hi there,
Darier's disease is a genetic skin condition, so unfortunately can't be cured yet, but there really is a lot that can be done. You need a referral to Dermatology department. Most big hospitals will have at least a few patients with Darier's and some big hospitals have a specialist genetic dermatology clinic.

I have quite a lot of experience with genetic skin disease and I've found that many of my patients have really benefitted from social media - Facebook groups etc, so it's worth searching one out.

I would really encourage your husband and sister in law to seek medical attention. Depending on where you are in the NW, your best bet is a big teaching hospital Derm department. I'm afraid I'm London based, but there are genetic derm clinics at Guy's and at the Royal London.

I hope that helps and good luck!

Dr Emma
