Actinic keratosis
Hello
I have a small actinic keratosis on the bridge of my nose, an inch below the site of a basal cell carcinoma I had removed last year.
The doctor has prescribed diclofenac gel, which is not having any effect. What is the next step?
Many thanks!

Re: Actinic keratosis
Hello
Thank you for the question. If its is indeed an actinic keratosis, other treatments such as efudix or imiquimod creams may be more effective than diclofenac gel.
Best wishes

Re: Actinic keratosis
Good evening,
Thank you for your question. Diclofenac gel can require upto 90 days of use to have optimal effect, however does not clear all lesions.
A single actinic keratosis can be treated with freezing (cryotherapy) or alternatively creams such as Efudix. Both are likely to be more effective at clearing the lesion compared to Diclofenac gel. Efudix is likely to cause a stronger skin reaction than Diclofenac gel.
It would be important to ensure that the diagnosis is correct.
