hrt at 65??
Hi
I'm 65 and STILL feeling the effects of the menopause
I went onto HRT in my 50's and felt so very much better. No debilitating hot flushes, clearer mind, sleeping well, physical well being, normal libido etc I was on HRT until my GP insisted that 5 years was enough.
Reluctantly I had to stop. Then bang, the whole sorry lot came back. The concession my new GP made was pessaries for vaginal dystrophy.
While over time things are somewhat better, my libido is rock bottom, I feel permanently foggy and tired, I have ongoing insomnia. I wonder whether reinstating HRT is acceptable or wise.

Most women going through the menopause can take HRT for ~ 5 years, stop it and be symptom free. However some women will continue to suffer debilitating symptoms. Whilst there are some risks with longer use of HRT, for many the benefit and improved quality of like outweigh any risks. It is worth discussing again with your doctor if you are suffering.
