Smear test results
the nurse at my GP surgery said that if I have a smear test that comes back with no HPV then I won't need to have another smear test unless I have sex again. is this true?

Not really Rosemary.
You should go for your smears when invited.
HPV is passed on by sexual contact , so we can see where your nurse is coming from , but HPV can lie dormant for some time , so just because you may not have sex for a while , it doesn't mean you shouldn't have your smear
