hysterectomy, PCOS and menopause

Hi i am 35 and i have PCOS and Menorrhagia. I had a vaginal hemorrhage in 2014 and required a blood transfusion, my haemoglobin level was 4. I am currently taking Norethisterone and Tranexamic Acid. I went through IVF in 2018 which was unsuccessful. After my Hemorrhage was told that i may need to have a Hysterectomy. I have recently been re referred to a gynaecologist and i am awaiting an appointment. I would like to know if i had a Hysterectomy would i go into early menopause and would the symptoms i have from PCOS such as hirsutism go away.

Re: hysterectomy, PCOS and menopause

In younger women undergoing a hysterectomy, the ovaries are not normally removed. Therefore they should continue to produce hormones as they do at the moment. Women however who have had a hysterectomy do tend to go through a slightly earlier menopause than women who still have a womb. Of course if the ovaries are removed at the time of a hysterectomy, women go through an instant menopause. I hope that helps answer your question.,
