Very bad stomach pains and IBS

Hi I have IBS and have had it for years my stomach gets very bad pains most days nothing the doctors give me helps. I am a male 64 and any advice would be appreciated.

I am sorry to hear you have been struggling. It may be worth you asking for a second opinion.
The initial investigations in IBS are to ensure the correct diagnosis/ensure there are no other causes of your symptoms. There is what I would call a ladder of treatment for IBS, starting off with dietary and lifestyle measures. Medications can be used depending on the predominant symptom, these needs to catered for you. .Sometimes non-medical therapy can be used to help you deal with your symptoms including 'talking therapy' (CBT) - this can be used in conjunction with any medical therapy.
