Hi I suffer from diverticulitis and a hiatus hernia which I do not know if they contribute to my main problems. My man problem is stomach pains which are quite severe at times especially in the morning and i quite often wake up with pan and bloating. I have had several scans and cameras 4 times now and after 4 years and 8 specialists no prognosis has really been found. I am on cholestagel. Esomeprazole and mebeverine . I have prob;ems if we go out as either eating or drinking alcohol can bring on a bout of diarrhea which restricts me going out without taking immodium for a day before. Any one have any ideas that I can now try. I have been recommended to try allergy test

The hiatus hernia can give rise to heartburn, but I suspect not related to the symptoms you describe. A hernia can give abdominal pain - usually at the top of the stomach. Whereabouts your pain is located can help to determine whether it is coming from your stomach or the intestines (the small or large intestine). This can then help to determine what may potentially be the cause and different treatment options. As you have seen a number of specialists and had numerous investigations - ultimately you should see someone who has access to all of those so that they can come to a conclusion and a treatment plan with you which you are happy with. The colestagel plus immodium can cause constipation/ faecal lading - which can also give rise to abdominal pains and diarrhoea ('overflow'). I don't believe you need an allergy test (such as food allergy testing) however you may benefit fro seeing a dietician to go through some tips to help improve your gut function.
