Thighs burning from steroid cream

How do I stop the top of my thighs burning and getting raw from the steroid cream which seems to migrate to them?
Thanks

Re: Thighs burning from steroid cream

The potent steroid cream that is used to treat Lichen sclerosus can irritate the skin if it consistently comes into contact with your thighs or buttocks. To prevent this, apply a good barrier cream to the skin on your thighs. I usually recommend an ointment (such as Hydromol ointment/ Epaderm ointment/ Cetraben ointment). These are quite greasy but will help. You could also try the barrier creams that are sold for baby nappy rash and I personally find Metanium ointment very effective, but be warned that it stains yellow and can stain your clothing and bedsheets. I would also recommend that you apply your steroid cream at night time to the vulval skin and wear some well fitting underwear as well as 100% cotton snug pyjamas to ensure the cream stays where it should and does not migrate to your thighs.
