UTIs/Urethral Dilation

I suffered UTIs continuously for a number of years resulting on a course of low dosage antiobiotics for over six months. Then I had a urethral dilation procedure done about 15 months ago. I was told that this procedure does not work for everyone. However, it has worked for me and, apart from one minor bout of infection, have not had any more recurrences.

My questions are: Is this procedure permanent? Can the urethra narrows itself in time? Can I have another dilation if my urethra reverts back to its normal size?

Re: UTIs/Urethral Dilation

The procedure does not necessarily need to be repeated but if your symptoms deteriorate it can be. The risk of repeated urethral manipulation is scarring which can produce further symptoms.
