Spots and whiteheads

My daughter is 15 and now becoming more social and out with groups of girls and boys. She is quite spotty (not as bad as many of her friends) and becoming more aware of it. She's very good and doesn't pick or squeeze them. She uses Body Shop products with Tea Tree - I've not bought anything else for her. Should I? If so can anyone recommend anything?

Thanks

Me again - noticed also that my daughter has a few nasty blackheads. I did try steaming her skin with warm water then gently squeezing them (not sure if I should have or not?!) - does anyone have any ideas on how she can get rid of them?

Thanks.

I think tea tree and witch hazel products are the best personally but everyone is different and if you can find a product that she likes stick to it. You can buy a night treatment gel (i get mine in boots) that you smooth over the problem area and it takes out the redness etc. It dries quickly and isn't sticky.

I think where possible try products that are natural as i have found that harsh chemicals dry my skin out too much!

As far as i know squeezing blackheads is fine although i used to use a blackhead remover from the body shop (some are better than others) because it prevents the spread of infection. You can also try those strips that you put on and rip off. I have never had much luck with these but i know others that have had really good results.

Remember though that any squeezing needs antiseptic applied to it straight after.

Hello Kate - thanks for these tips. I'll take a look at the body shop blackhead remover first as my daughter loves body shop products. Thanks for the tips.

Splashing cold water on the face removes sweat, which is a major cause for pimples and whiteheads. One key thing to remember is not to pop pimples because this will leave spot. You can use lemon juice freshly squeezed on pimples to reduce the swelling and redness. Thanks.

One of the biggest challenges with most people trying to get rid of such problems is that the'd focus on a ting aspect of the problem, as opposed to taking a more holistic approach to it...Tea Tree can be good, but that just the tiny bit of how you could go about it..there are great info products online these days that combine all the aspects needed to begin approaching the problem holistically-- and in an all-natural way...i'd encourage you to check there as well...

I agree .. holistic approach is necessary if you want to drive this away from the root. One of the fundamental reasons of acne is the deposition of toxics inside. Through a holistic approach you can get rid of these toxics and strengthen your system. This method may seem little demanding but return is good.
