teen acne--meds--trentenoin

I'm just disgusted. Have been seeing a derm for a year now and was given antibiotics then changed 4 months ago. Doxycycline is not helping.. Trentenoin which is retain-A is not helping. What am I going to do? My son is 14- is this all hormones? About a year ago I tried ACV and other home remedies but it irritated his skin so I stopped. He wants to try another doctor but really what will they do as he is on prescription meds already. : ( The soap is online with rave reviews for acne and also they sell this is the office too. I bought some vit C serum which does help with the redness but I have no idea if it's making it worse. UGH.. this is stressing me out because son is looking at me for answers..
