Acne Depression

Just joined this site in hope for some help. My acne has stuck around for the last 3 years, while it’s not bad and I understand others have it a lot worse than me, I’m really struggling. Every time I look at myself I hate what I see, I’ve tried so much, from OTC products to Prescription and none of it has worked. I’m starting to feel extremely depressed, reserved and at times suicidal, which sounds extreme but I seriously feel this bad. Has anyone gone through this? How can I get out of this mindset. Thanks

Re: Acne Depression

Hi stressess123,

We are so sorry to hear that you are feeling like this. Do you have any close family or friends you would be able to talk about this with? It really important to seek some help for how you are feeling, as well as your skin condition.

We are not able to give out specific medical advice unfortunately but I would say it is important to share that you have felt this low with someone sooner rather than later. Please make an appointment with your GP to discuss how you are feeling as soon as possible. We do have an ask the expert clinic on mental health and skin conditions but unfortunately that is not until 6th April 2020, but do have a look here where you can always ask your question;

We have lots of advice regarding dealing with your acne here; http://www.talkhealthpartnership.com/talkacne/

We also have many bloggers that have written articles about acne here;

Hope that you get some answers from this information but in the mean time please do speak to someone in person about this issue, you are definitely not alone. If you do not feel as though you can share it with a friend, then there is always the Samaritans;

Do let us know how you are getting on.

Regards

Sorry to hear that acne is making you depressed. Acne wherever it is is fixable.
