Is pollen causing my acne?
When I was a teenager, I used to suffer from acne quite badly. It went away by the time I reached 30, and for the past eight years I’ve been pretty much acne free. However, I noticed last year in March that my acne started to return. It lasted for about 8 weeks and then it went away. I wasn’t sure of the reason so I just left it alone. This year in March my acne started to flared up once again. It can’t be a coincidence that years in a row, my acne has flared up in the same month. I’ve been thinking about why this is happening during the months of March/April and the only thing that I can think of is it’s the beginning of the pollen season. It’s also worth mentioning that the acne is on my cheeks, particularly at the points where my face touches the pillow. When I sleep at night, I’m starting to think that the pillowcases that I hang outside to dry are becoming covered in pollen particles. When I go to sleep, the pollen is coming into contact with my face, causing an allergic reaction. The sides of my face are very red.
I have a beard, and it’s also worth noting that there is no redness or acne below my beard. If this was hormonal or caused by any other reason, I feel that the acne would be below my beard as well.
I wondered whether anyone else has ever suffered from a similar thing? I’m going to start using silk pillowcases instead and obviously not hang them outside anymore. I’ll let you know how this goes.

I'm positive your acne flare-up IS pollen related. Your skin is obviously very sensitive to allergens. Having pollen get into the skin is painful and very itchy. I would certainly take steps to stop pollen getting onto your skin. Using clean pillows and avoiding contact with grass will both help heal your skin.

Pollen itself does not directly cause acne. Acne is primarily caused by excess oil production, clogged pores, and bacteria. However, pollen can exacerbate acne in individuals with allergies, leading to increased inflammation and potential breakouts. Maintaining a consistent skincare routine and managing allergy symptoms can help minimize the impact of pollen on acne-prone skin.

Hi there!
I also get pretty bad allergies in the springtime..basically I cannot breath through my nose at all. And these past few year I noticed that my skin would also get irritated and I had all these blemishes suddenly appearing on my face. Recently I changed my facialist and she recommended that I try to include basic products in my routine and focus on calming and soothing properties. Through her I discovered this new concept called beautyceutic. At first I used their products alone but I found out that you can enhance them (if I can say so) by putting in some drop of ceutics (I think that 's how they're called). My favourite is the a-bisabolol beacuse it really calms down any rashes I have. I put it in everything - cleanser, face cream, face oil. And what I love most is that I can only buy the ceutics from them and use them with any other product!
I think it's definitely worth a try

While sensitivities don't cause skin break out as an immediate side effect, they can in an optional way. Sensitivities cause aggravation in the body, which can prompt expanding and skin disturbance. This irritation may then set off a safe reaction, bringing about the arrival of chemicals that can deteriorate skin break out.

While allergies don't cause acne as a direct symptom, they can in a secondary way. Allergies cause inflammation in the body, which can lead to swelling and skin irritation. This inflammation may then trigger an immune response, resulting in the release of hormones that can worsen acne.

Pollen can greatly affect the skin. Pollen in the skin can result in hives: it's nasty. And very itchy.
I'd avoid direct contact with grass of any kind. Pollen is everywhere, so do be extra careful.
