Treatments and camouflage

Vitiligo treatments

Hi. I would be really interested to know about any new recent treatments. I had light therapy back when I was diagnosed which helped to a degree. I've also had the steroid creams but they didn't really help.
Is there likely to ever be a cure?

I've also found that the veil camouflage creams all tend to be the wrong colour and I struggle to find a match as I am very olive skinned.

Re: Treatments and camouflage

Dear Kerry,

Thank you for your question. I am so sorry to hear that the treatments you tried did not help.

There are also non steroid ointment and cream called tacrolimus (Protopic) and pimecrolimus (Elidel), they can be helpful. Perhaps you could ask your dermatologist to prescribe them.

There is a lot of research going on to improve vitiligo treatment. There are promising treatments called tofacitinib and baricitinib which are under investigation. I hope they would be approved for treatment soon.

I hope this is helpful.
With Best Wishes,
