How can I improve my skin?

I am in my mid forties. I suffered from acne when I was young but it all stopped in my late twenties. Now that my hormones are getting into disbalance again, my skin seems always congested, oily, pores are large, I get very deep seated acne , I get white balls of fat that are so deep under the skin that they cannot be squeezed out but are visible. I also get a lot of acne bumps. How can my skin be improved?
Thank you, Maria

Hi Maria,
Thanks so much for your question.

The good news is that there is so much you can do to improve your skin, so don't give up hope!

Firstly, make sure your skin care routine isn't clogging your pores. Avoid oils and heavy, long-wear foundations. Then try adding in some active ingredients like salicylic acid - either in a cleanser or as a leave on product and then vitamin A (retinoids).

If you are getting very deep seated spots, you may need medicated creams and it would be worth chatting to your doctor about this. Prescription grade retinoids can make a real difference to the skin, but you need to use them for at least 3 months. If those don't work, tablets either hormonal or other classes of medication may also be helpful.

I hope this helps and Good luck!

Best wishes,
Emma
