Persistent Eczema - solved?

Hey fellow scratchers

I have had eczema on and off for years - with a persistent outbreak most of this year

Anyways, as this 'disease' has no cure - It had to be a external factor

So, I cut out all alcohol and have seen a great improvement on my skin - that ever present 'whole body itch' has died down and the scabby bits are now healing

I didn't drink much but I was drinking every day - that was the trigger for me

I have also obtained some Kefir from :- https://www.chucklinggoat.co.uk which is supposed to help with auto-immune type conditions - I'll keep you posted on that - but I can confirm it's a 'challenge' to swallow!

My leg from last week so you get an idea

Hi Kenny,

Glad to hear that your skin has improved! Out of interest, does your skin tend to improve in sunshine or on holiday?

Best wishes,

Dr K

No difference with the sun unfortunately - I have been out in the sun most of the summer & the tanned bits fare no differently to the white bits! Same was true when I've been abroad for some sun

Hi Kenny,

Hmm...sun is often worth a shot in many skin conditions.

In any case, I'm glad that you're doing well. Long may it continue!

Hi Kenny
I agree, it sounds like lifestyle change changes have really helped you - well done! Eczema is a very individual condition. The areas of eczema on your legs look like discoid eczema. Eczema needs to be controlled, so do continue to use complete emollient therapy for washing and moisturising, you also may need to use some potent topical steroid for a short term treatment burst to try and clear the discoid areas. Discoid eczema can be stubborn, and for more tips I would recommend The National Eczema Society website, where there is lots of information and a factsheet on discoid eczema: https://eczema.org/information-and-advi ... id-eczema/
All the best.
