I get scabs on my head which are itchy and I scratch them or have a shower and they then open up and are really sore and painful I have tried various treatments but nothing seems to stop them or clear them

Sores on the scalp can be due to a number of diagnosis. In children, often head lice are responsible as scratching can break the skin and introduce a bacterial infection called impetigo. Fungal scalp infection is also very itchy and can result in scratching and sores. There are also other scalp dermatoses that can cause acne-like spots. Without a diagnosis it is not possible to recommend a treatment and I advise against a trial and error approach. Its best that you see your GP or book a consultation with a dermatologist.
