deep purple spots on my arms and legs

I am an 81 year old female and in the past year have experienced deep purple spots on my arms and legs. They appear overnight and stay for about 2 weeks before fading away. They do not hurt but look angry. What are they please and what causes them?

HI Diana,
Sorry to hear you are experiencing this. It's difficult to know exactly what's causing this, but it sounds a bit like purpura, which is essentially easy bruising.
I suggest you make an appointment to discuss with your GP - they could confirm the diagnosis and if it is purpura, they may check your blood is clotting normally and that there is no medication that is contributing to this.
