Itchy eyelid
Hi I have been suffering with an itchy eyelid since around March. It seemed to come on after suffering from a virus in February which I now think was probably Covid19 but this was prior to testing being available.
It only affects one eye and I do not have any problems with the interior of the eye at all. It sometimes seems red and puffy and I feel the need to rub it. I am using emollient cream which soothes but has not healed it. It comes and goes over the day and night and gets worse and better over the course of a week. Once or twice it has been so bad that I have tried mild hydrocortisone cream but do not want to use that near my eye if possible. Any ideas on what could be the cause and best treatment? Thanks.

Re: Itchy eyelid
Dear Clare,
I am so sorry to hear about your eyelid! It sounds like an allergic contact dermatitis. Ask your Dermatologist or GP to consider a patch test to establish what you might be allergic too and also for Protopic ointment to get itch under control. If it is of interest there is more information about patch testing and Protopic ointment on my website: https://www.alexandroff.org.uk
I hope this is helpful.
With Best Wishes,
