exercise

I had surgery about six month ago – but still feeling very tired and weak – I am 72 years of age… I used to be fairly active but now struggle to go out for walks. Should I just push through this and make myself walk further or should I take it more easy… its hard to know what to do for the best

Re: exercise

Certainly having had a general anaesthetic and major surgery it can take time to recover. There is lots of evidence that exercise and diet in cancer care has great benefits. On The Urology Foundation website there is a great article 'Powering Prostate Cancer Recovery Through Exercise'. Prostate Cancer UK (PCUK) have a fact sheet 'Diet and physical activity for men with prostate cancer' and a free Fatigue support helpline where you can talk to a Specialist Nurse trained in fatigue management. You can find information about both of these on their website www.prostatecanceruk.org. It's great you are making the effort to exercise, small steps in your recovery is better than nothing at all.
