diet/hormones

Is there any link between diet/hormones and lichen sclerosus? (If no, is this because of a lack of funding for research?)

Re: diet/hormones

As LS can occur in patients of all ages eg children, pregnant women and post-menopausal women there is not a simple answer to your question regarding hormones. No research to date has found a clear link to hormone levels to account for the development of LS. Likewise diet hasn't been shown to influence the presentation or severity of LS. Lack of funding for research is one reason why we haven't looked into this further. However, it is very important to be clear about exactly what type of research question you're asking in order to devise an appropriate study to answer these type of questions. Work and collaboration between clinicians and patients is continuing to try to formulate such questions.
