triggers and prevention

I have recently been diagnosed with hidradenitis suppurativa, so I'm still trying to figure out the things that make it worse for me. Can I have any advice on potential triggers that I may need to look out for? And what can I do to prevent it from flaring up?

Re: triggers and prevention

It is not always possible to identify a trigger for flares however stress, tight fitting clothing and smoking can affect the severity of symptoms and the frequency of flares. Hormones may also play a role in some women, who may experience flares before the menstrual period.

If any of these factors are relevant to you, please seek assistance from your GP to address them.
Remember, HS is a medical condition. If frequent flares are having an impact on your quality of life, there are medical treatments that can be prescribed by your GP or your specialist.
