Treatment options

Hi there,

I’m 38 and have suffered with bad skin on my face and body on and off, to varying degrees, since I was 13. Sometimes it impacts on my mental health, and also the spots on my neck, chest and back affect what I choose to wear. I’ve tried countless antibiotics, lotions, creams, been on Roaccutane years ago, and nothing clears it completely. The latest treatments I’ve been trying are the various acne supplements that have started popping up a lot lately. The contraceptive pill Dianette used to work well for me, but is now not an option at my age.
I’ve recently been reading about Spironolactone - could this be an option for me? And would my GP need to prescribe it?

Re: Treatment options

Thank you for your question. I am so sorry to hear about your acne. Yes it is reasonable to try Spironolactone off licence. You would need to see your GP for this.

I hope this is helpful.

Kind regards
