Ongoing hair loss

I have tried everything, and still far too much hair comes out in my comb every day. This has been going on since before I was 50, and I am 62 now. Is there anything new that I can try, please?

Re: Ongoing hair loss

Hello and thank you for your message.

There are a multitude of causes for hair shedding ranging from nutritional deficiencies, hormone imbalances, stress, medications and febrile illness. In addition certain common conditions such as androgenetic alopecia (common balding) can present with intermittent ongoing hair shedding. Different factors may be of relevance at different stages in your life and impact on your hair growth. If you haven't already, I would advise seeing your Dr to obtain an up to date set of blood tests to exclude some of these factors before arranging to see a Dermatologist who will be able to assess you formally, talk through the diagnosis and treatment options moving forward.

Best wishes
