Disappearing Hair
Disappearing Hair
I am a 67 year old woman who has had slight thinning hair on my right side for a few years. However, over the last 6 to 8 weeks it has become much more obvious and it is receding from my forehead. please advise. Thank you.

Re: Disappearing Hair
Dear poodle24,
Thank you for your post. Gradual thinning of the hair is most commonly due to female pattern hair loss, however recession of your frontal hairline may indicate a less common condition called frontal fibrosing alopecia. This is often associated with a reduction in body hair and thinning of the eyebrows in many women. It may also be associated with itching, redness or tenderness of the scalp.
It would be beneficial to see a dermatologist who will be able to examine you and discuss the cause of your hair changes. They can then advise you on specific treatments.
